Leadership Olympics

Everyone knows my passion is Special Olympics.  I would love to create a Leadership Olympics.  In this program everyone would learn what type of leader they are and how to lead people effectively.  I would have them do team boning experiences and fun games.  In my program everyone would be built up and not torn down. They would all know that they are doing a great job and that I am proud of them.  They would all most definitely know they could come talk to me and I would listen and help everyone the best I could. In my program everyone is a winner.

We are one.

It does not matter who you are, the color of your skin, where you came from of the language you speak.  LEADERS ARE LEADERS!

This link above is to a song by U2 called One.  I think its a perfect explanation of the unity of us as a world, and having one love.

My Blue Eyes

Everyone knows my passion.  Special Olympics, and just special needs people are my passion.  I have a tattoo of the Special Olympics symbol for crying out loud.  I just enjoy seeing their happiness.  Helping them makes me realize that I honestly have nothing to complain about in my life.  I am in college, I have a nice car, a computer, tons of friends, and most importantly I have a wonderful family.  These kids get so happy over winning something as small as a medal.  They have every right in the world to complain, yet they are always happy.  They will do anything to make their friends happy too!  Those kids are honestly some of the most loyal, trustworthy, and best people in the world. Just being around them makes me happy.  If I have a bad day, I know just seeing them or talking to one of them will always cheer me up.  One little girl, named Arneshia, is truly my best friend.  She calls me at least once a week, just to ask how I am doing.  She never me for anything, except to come see her.  She deserves the world, but asks for nothing.  People like this are my passion.  Helping them do simple things such as win a gold medal at the Special Olympics is what makes +my blue eyes shine.

"Now is the Time"

"I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation."
Martin Luther King Jr. knew his speech was about to make history.  If he thought otherwise he would not have started his speech with the quote above. "A leader does not doubt for one moment the capacity of the people he is leading" Martin Luther King Jr. believed in himself, he believed in the people he was speaking to, he believed  in change and freedom. Leadership: lead.er.ship- noun- The action of leading a group of people or organization.  This speech in many ways is the definition of leadership. Martin Luther King Jr. stood before all those people, brave, strong, and determined. He lead all those people to freedom, to stand in front of all them and give a speech, risking his life to give the hope that everyone else will have the opportunity to live free and happy. He was hopeful for the possibilities of a new kind of life.  The Finis Origine Pendent- "the end depends on the beginning" He wanted change, he went in knowing he was about to make history and he was about to make a change.  This beginning lead to a whole new life for segregation.  Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech was so effective because he believed in it.  He believed in the words he was speaking, he believed in all the people he was speaking it to. In the end, he believed in the change.

Reflection on "Like Clockwork"

When I applied for Emerging Leaders I was expecting to automatically have a new family.  A family of twenty Winthrop freshman that I would be able to talk to no matter what.  I quickly realized that it would not be that easy.  Now, don't take that as I realized we wouldn't be a family, that is not the case, I realized that it was just going to take time.

We have had many struggles already and we just began our fourth week of college.  At the same time, all families have struggles and at the end of the day I know that everyone has my back if I need them. I would hope everyone also feels the same way, I would stand up and fight for everyone of the EL's.  We are still a family.

I would trust each and everyone of these people enough to go skydiving and jump out of a plane with them.  I still love my emerging leaders family even with all of our struggles.
